New T-Mobile Launch Dates

Posted by: Christopher Meinck

Tagged in: T-Mobile , HTC Touch Pro 2 , HTC Snap , HTC Rhodium , dash

Well, the leaked schedules and release dates just keep coming!  We’ve recently come across a T-Mobile launch list that includes a couple of very interesting things on it.  The first is the Dash 3G, which is T-Mobile’s fancy new name for the HTC Snap.  It’s on track to be released on July 1.  The HTC Rhodium, which is their name for the Touch Pro 2, is listed for July 22.  Finally, a new T-Mobile feature that will be available on these devices is Visual Voicemail, which will be available on July 16.  These dates look pretty firm, so if you’re interested in these devices, you don’t have to wait too much longer.

Update on TELUS Pricing

We recently mentioned that TELUS was getting the World Editions of the HTC Touch Pro 2 and the HTC Snap.  Well, we know a bit more about the pricing of the two devices now.  It looks like the HTC Snap will go for $449 in Canadian Dollars if you don’t renew or sign a new contract.  The HTC Touch Pro 2 is a bit more expensive, coming in at $549 Canadian.  That’s actually less than the first Touch Pro launched for—it was originally $649 with no contract.

Sometimes we come across release schedules that seem perfectly laid out and end up being very accurate.  But sometimes we hear rumors that just don’t quite add up, and that’s the feeling we’re getting with this recently discovered T-Mobile roadmap.  According to it, the HTC Magic/G2 will be released during the summer.  This really contradicts what we know of the Magic, which we all now know is going to be called the myTouch 3G.  It also lists a second version of the HTC G1 for the fall.  Then there’s the Samsung Houdini, not an HTC phone but one that will run Android, that’s also on the list for fall of 2009.  Whether this list is a fake or just outdated, we don’t know, but it should be interesting to see how these last two items turn out.

HTC Hero to Run Android?

Well, after that very pink HTC Hero picture that was released awhile ago, we wondered what HTC was thinking.  CodeAndroid has come across a new image of the Hero, however, and it’s a much calmer black.  The design of the device may turn off some, but the Hero also have a few features that make us very exciting, including the first 3.5mm headphone jack to ever appear on an HTC Android phone!  There’s also no trackball or other control pad of any sort, so it looks like the touchscreen may be the only navigation tool on the Hero.  Is that a plus or a minus?  We will only know when the device launches.

TELUS Gets HTC Snap and Touch Pro 2

If you live in Canada, TELUS is about to become your best friend.  That’s because the Canadian distributor now has both the HTC Snap World Edition and the HTC Touch Pro 2 World Edition listed on their inventory list.  There wasn’t much in the way of rumors preceding this move—the devices just showed up in TELUS’s inventory system.  The only difference we know of so far is that the World Editions include EV-DO Rev. A and a dual-band GSM.  Other than that, they have about the same specs as the GSM versions.  We will list any different updates to the World Editions as they become available.

HTC Magic May Come to T-Mobile USA as the MyTouch 3G

T-Mobile USA loves to rename things, and we’ve been wondering for months what they would eventually call the HTC Magic.  Would it be the G2?  What about all those potential names that were floating around not too long ago?  Well, it looks like most of those have gone by the wayside.  The HTC Magic has shown up on T-Mobile’s inventory list as the HTC MyTouch 3G.  This was one of the potential leaked names, and while it’s not the greatest, it is better than some of the options.  Also, while the G1 was only available in black at first, it looks like the MyTouch 3G will be available in black, while or merlot.  Also, the Touch Pro 2 is listed on this inventory list as well, so it looks like T-Mobile customers are about to have several new choices.

HTC Rhodium (Wing 2) Confirmed by FCC

T-Mobile US is bringing more and more AWS phones over now that it’s got its 3G network up and going.  One of these devices is the HTC Rhodium, or the Wing 2 as it’s going by.  The device will run Windows 6.1 and will feature a sliding QWERTY keyboard in addition to its 3.6 inch WVGA touchscreen.  What else do the Rhodium feature?  The FCC specs include a Qualcomm 7201A processor, 256 MB of RAM and 512 MB or ROM, Bluetooth 2.0 support, and microSDHC support.  You can also get FM radio on the device.  With all that, it’s looking like the Rhodium will be a nice addition to T-Mobile’s line.

Early HTC Snap Review

Tagged in: Untagged

The people at Smartphone Daily have provided an early review of the HTC Snap, one of the more interesting devices HTC has unveiled recently.  What’s so interesting about it is the Inner Circle feature, a new feature that makes it easy to filter your incoming email.  It displays email from your top friends and makes it very easy to reply or send new messages to them.  On the downside, the review mentions that the rest of the phone is decent but nothing amazing.  It’s a solid business smart phone, but other than the Inner Circle, there’s nothing really innovative or different about it.  Still,  solid phones are sometimes hard to come by, making the Snap a potential hit amount business users.
