Stuck in traffic? Waiting for your doctor’s appointment? Many people pass time playing games on their cell phones, but with the HTC Diamond, that’s been a bit difficult because of the way the keys are mapped. However, a user on the XDA Developers site has created a program that locks the Diamond’s four keys. This means you can turn the answer or end call buttons into left and right buttons, making it easier to maneuver your character or select options. It’s a great little program for anyone who plays a lot of games on their Diamond or for those who find the Diamond’s current key mapping annoying.

We’ve just come across some information for HTC Diamond users. It looks like a number of users who have an unlocked HTC Touch Diamond have suddenly found their mobile device won’t work, and no one is quite certain exactly what the issue is. All that’s known so far is that it’s not a ROM problem. What’s even worse is that many Diamond users have tried to call HTC’s customer support line only to find that it’s down.

Cellular South, a phone carrier that provides service to Mississippi and some surrounding states, is now attempting to bring in more customers by offering the HTC Touch Diamond. If you’re in the area and want to switch over, you can grab the Diamond for $199.99 with a two-year contract or $449.99 if you don’t want to be tied down. Back some time ago, the news broke that some HTC mobile devices, specifically the HTC Touch Diamond and the Touch Pro, did not feature hardware video acceleration. While there hasn’t been much talk about the issue since HTC promised to fix the issue, now that the two phones are live, it looks like HTC has both kept and broken that promise.

You’ve got to admit that the HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro have unique looks—the sharper edges and the multifaceted back were major design changes from HTC’s other smart phones. Of course, it turns out that HTC didn’t actually design the Diamond or the Pro. Instead, they contracted One & Co., a design firm located in San Francisco. Well, now HTC has gone one step further: they’ve recently purchased One & Co. While the terms of the buyout haven’t been made public, they have announced that One & Co. will keep its name and its current list of clients.

Like the mysterious Carmen Sandiego, we’re wondering where in the world the white HTC Touch Diamond is. Sure, we’ve seen pictures of it, so we know it exists, but very few people have been able to actually get their hands on it. Of course, the white Touch doesn’t include any different applications or anything, it’s just a different color. However, the fact that it’s rare is making it one of the most sought-after devices. If you were casually thinking the white Touch would accessorize better with your outfit, you may want to re-think the black version. If, however, you want to be the envy of all your friends, good luck with your white Touch search. It looks like you’re going to need it!

Alltel, which will soon be assimilated by Verizon (a merger approved by the FCC on November 4), is now preparing to launch the Touch Diamond, a phone that’s been rumored for a while now. Alltel is now taking questions about the phone, which runs Windows Mobile 6.1. Looking to add one of these hip smart phones to your collection? You can now reserve your very own for the low price of $249.99. Well, that’s if you go with a two-year contract and send in all of your rebates, of course. Still, it’s good to see that Alltel has finally added the Diamond to its list of models available.

Just a few days ago, Sprint acknowledged the Touch Diamond would be available in early September and they've made good on their word. Starting today, the HTC Touch Diamond is available on Sprint Wireless for $250 (after a $200 instant rebate with a 2-year contract).
