For those of us who were eagerly awaiting the HTC’s Touch HD, it’s a sad day. Despite what HTC calls overwhelmingly strong demand for the phone in the United States and other areas, they’ve officially stated that it’s not going to happen. Why? An HTC representative says it would simply take too much time and effort to get a North American 3G band up and running. Their best advice: wait until the next round of smart phones and hope once again.
There is a sliver lining here. HTC has been reminded (once again) that there’s a huge demand for their products outside of Europe, especially in the U.S. That doesn’t make up for the lack of the Touch HD in our hot little hands, but it does mean that maybe, just maybe, they will plan a North America release for their next cool device. They know we’re here, and they know we’re willing to give them money!
Generation Phone House has gotten their hands on a pre-release model of the highly anticipated HTC Touch HD. They measure up the HTC Touch HD versus the iPhone and Samsung Omnia. The video is in French, but the kind gentlemen at GPH have added English subtitles.
HTC made the Touch HD official today offering up complete specs and a photo gallery. The Touch HD boasts impressive specs and the photos certainly emit the "wow" factor.

No official word on a street date or wireless carrier, but stay tuned.
Good news for everyone eagerly awaiting the HTC Touch HD. The Federal Communications Commission, the juggernaut that decides what is and what is not an acceptable communications device, has given its seal of approval to the Touch HD. The phone will carry the model number BLAC100, where BLAC is short for Blackstone. But don't start saving up for the Touch HD just yet-even though the FCC has approved this piece of hardware, the WCDMA 850/1900 hasn't made it past the FCC crew. That leaves us here in North America without a HTC with 3G bands.
