HTC has upgraded their Touch, giving it some nice new features and upgrades. The HTC Touch 3G, as the new model has been designated, features Quad-band GMS and HSDPA 900/1200 bands. It also now features a 3.2 megapixel camera for those who enjoy snapping pictures with their phone and A-GPS for travelers. The Touch 3G also has a few upgrades under the hood, including a 528 MHz processor and 192 MB of RAM. The Touch 3G ships with Windows Mobile 6.1, as one would expect, and TouchFLO 3D. Anyone who was uncertain about picking up the Touch because of its age no longer need be concerned about that.

That’s right, Google’s Android operating system has finally moved beyond the G1. Some enterprising phone fans have been working to bring the operating system to other phones, and Engadget has an encouraging video of Android running on the HTC Touch. This has been in the works for some time now, and while some ports of the open source Android haven’t been that great, this one is. The Touch version featured a soft keyboard and several other Android features, although there’s no Bluetooth, GPS, or USB features yet. This version of Android for the Touch is live, too, so if you’re daring, you can download it and give it a shot. After all, you only need to restart your phone to get back to Windows Mobile, so why not give Android a test drive?

In recent years, HTC has taken a back seat to the wireless carriers when it comes to the marketing of their devices. Most recently, the HTC Touch for Verizon is being marketed as the XV6900 and the HTC TyTN II being dubbed the Tilt by AT&T. Realizing the opportunity to build their brand as a premier manufacturer of smartphones, HTC has started a new campaign dubbed "Something Beautiful Is Coming". See one of the first commercials "Set Your Fingers Free" after the break.
