The HTC Tilt from AT&T ships with a ton of "bloatware". Basically, it's software that is trialware and things you most likely will not need. If you do, you could always restore via a ROM update or just download the specific program. If it's Ms.Pacman you crave, then it's easily found on the Interweb.
Now, on to the tutorial.
- Press Start > Menu > Select System Tab
- Select Clear Storage and when you do be sure to have your stylus ready. You'll be prompted to type 1234.
- After you select YES, the AT&T Tilt will reboot.
- Once it reboots, it will attempt to "customize" your Tilt. ie. put back all the trialware that we just removed. As soon as you see this, place the tip of the stylus in the hole above the USB connector, but below the miniSD slot on the bottom of the Tilt. Hold for 2 seconds. This will soft reset the Tilt. If you don't do it in time, the customization starts and it's back to square one or step 1 in this case.
- When you reset, the bloatware will be gone and the Tilt will not start the "customization" process.
Seems difficult, but this won't take more than a few minutes. Of course, it's best to back up all your data and programs --- as you'll lose them in the process. A small price to pay for clean Tilt.
